Troll Captain Falcon says, "Show me ya fantrolls!"
So, sometimes I give thought to making a fantroll based on kaiju (think: Godzilla, Mothra, Gamera, other such giant monsters). Their lusus would more or less have to be a monster of such size. The problem isn't with having a lusus that big, it's not unheard of. The problem is... well, they're kaiju. Their shtick is that they completely wreck cities. Probably not a good idea for a lusus. What should I do?

Make it more “docile” I suppose (not wreck cities)? I mean, the general shape should be enough for a reference to a kaiju seeing as Godzilla, Mothra and Gamera are pretty popular. That is, if you intend to use one of those three.

I think a lot people making fancharacters have forgotten one important thing lately: Just because it's cool doesn't make it a good idea.

Mmm.

For an AU fuchsiablood, I was thinking that the head honcho is physically weak (strength on par with a stronger oliveblood), but REALLY smart and has a sceptre that lets he/she drain psychic powers from lowbloods and use a watered-down version of a drained power on command. The heirs/heiresses are all physically tougher, but their sceptres lack the draining ability and are just fancy-looking. Is this a good idea?

I’m not really a fan of it, mainly because of the scepter.

Heloooo!~ im opening a fantroll art blog it's fantrollartroom, i make sprites, talksprites, ancestors, and art for peoples fantrolls by request, would you mind associating or giving me a boost? thankies!!! ♥

Gah, this is so late, but here! This seems like a VERY useful blog and if they haven’t died off already (I hope not), then please check them out!

Just to add to the Internet Movie [thing] Database suggestions, there also exists one for planes!! A handy thing if you're interested in making a pilot fantroll/fankid!

Huh, I see those kinds of OCs around so this should be helpful to them. I wonder if there’s one for nearly every subject, kind of like wikis.

What do you think about a character using a rather archaic handheld wind instrument as their fetch modus? It works like this: When the character plays a note or melodic sequence, the item the belongs in that musical tune's inventory gets ejected out of the inventory. However, due to my character being a forgetful scatterbrain, she often plays the wrong tune when she requires something. She wrote down the note on a piece of worn paper that she keeps in her ppocket, but she often forgets about it.

I’ve seen fetch modii (modi? I forget) like that before, but usually using singing instead. I think it’s fine, just make sure to give it a name.

Could a lusus be a shapeshifter?

Mmmm…I strongly advise against it, mainly because I think a lusus should only be one shape. If a lusus was a shapeshifter, it may be overpowered because of how many shapes it can change into.

I was actually thinking of making his eyes a different colour (in-between the light and middle parts of the horns instead of the tips), he has poor eyesight but refuses to admit it (or doesn't acknowledge it), has a rather high pain tolerance due to the sun exposure, and is actually pretty proud of the scars.
Anonymous

That sounds perfect, and if you wanted to stick with it what I would have expected to see so yeah I think you’re doing just fine with your sun exposed/tolerant troll! Keep going ahead with the idea.

Is it okay to have a non-jadeblood who trained himself to withstand sunlight, just in case he got stuck outside or something? (It shows via his skin being slightly darker, all 180 in RGB instead of all 196)
Anonymous

That’s possible but remember he’s probably experienced a lot of pain in the process, like his vision may be worse now due to the sun and maybe even got burnt a lot and might have scars or something from so much sun exposure. I would advise against it but if you take the proper repercussions into consideration it’s totally possible.

~Mod Sam

I don’t really think this is possible due to the effects it had on Terezi. Besides making her blind, she also fell unconscious after that happened and it’s possible that it was due to the sun. If the sun is so harsh that it makes one faint after being exposed to it for only a few moments, then I don’t think it’s very possible to build an immunity to it.

Hey guys, I just wanted to pop in and say thanks for all the work you do answering all these questions. I get really nervous when asking people stuff, even on anon, so it's a real nice thing that you answer so much, since a lot of my own questions have been answered. But, I finally worked up the courage to ask something myself! Is it alright if my seadweller's skirt is her blood color instead of black/grey? Thank you so much! ;w;
Anonymous

Yes! Seadwellers are usually seen in more colors then just black and gray along with jewelry gold and other things so yeah feel free to give her a skirt with her blood color.

~Mod Sam

What would you think of a Grieve Edge-esque strife specibus? In short, shortbladed footwear where the user would make up for reach in speed, athleticism, and creativity.
Anonymous

I had to look that up. If you’re talking about a weapon from the Soul Calibur series, then yes, I think it’s fine. I would just hope it wouldn’t make walking awkward.

Actually, transgender and transhemo wouldn't really be that different. A transgender human and a transhemo troll would both feel dysphoria about their bodies and could possibly feel triggered upon seeing certain things about themselves (FTM humans could feel triggered when seeing their breasts, while transhemo trolls feel it when seeing their genitalia, implying it's colored with their blood). As said before, I would advise against making one either way to prevent offending anyone.
Anonymous

Oh, and in a way, “transhemo” trolls could possibly have it worse than transgender humans. Trolls, in the canon universe at least, /murder/ their newly hatched grubs if they have even a small mutation. For example, if an olive-to-indigo transhemo troll gets caught wearing indigo blood without having an indigo quadrant, they would probably get killed. Plus, you can’t really change the color of your blood, so they’re stuck feeling dysphoria for their entire lives, while humans can get surgery.

I knew nothing about the triggering part. I’m not sure I can agree that trolls have it worse than transgendered humans as transgendered humans have it pretty bad as it is. Hate is a powerful force and is something that is still prevalent today and while surgeries are available, they may not be available to everyone. In the U.S., the patient may have to pay out of pocket unless they have insurance and even then, it’s unclear as to whether or not every insurance pays for that sort of surgery. There have been people who have been murdered for being transgendered as well, and there are other difficulties that one must face when they decide to try and become the gender they are the most comfortable with. I do agree that trolls would have it terribly, I don’t think I can say one has it worse than the other so easily.

Such a troll is something I would advise against making as well, since it would probably raise more than hell for the creator and this is a delicate topic.
